Over 200 University and sixth form students occupied the Radcliffe Camera for over 24 hours as part of a national day of action against proposed 40% cuts to higher education and increased tuition fees
This was the date that Gabriel Chamberlain who had been living in a horse chestnut tree in Bonn Square for some weeks was evicted. Youths who liked to congregate at Bonn Square held a very lively protest there one Saturday. Green councillor Deborah Glass Woodin was arrested on 9 Jan 2008 trying to save trees by the multi-story car park which were about to be felled even though planning permission hadn't yet been granted for the new Westgate centre, which wasn't complete for another 10 years.

Formation flying with wheelbarrows painted red through the crowds at Cowley Road Carnival. One was full of free veg, another had a home made solar cooker, &c. Done without asking the organisers, so the official report after the Carnival credited them with being fun, but questioned them on health and safety grounds. Not sure if it was an original idea, the following year reports of the Kingston Bagpuize Red Barrows appeared in the Oxford mail

The boatyard was run by boaters for ten months, evicted on 31 May 2006. Jericho residents were mostly supportive, helped no doubt by the popularity of author Philip Pullman and his "Gyptians". Ten years later there is now planning permission for the boatyard, a new Community Centre, a new footbridge, public square, and housing, but the current owner is showing no sign of beginning work and the site is still boarded up
An empty workshop in Cave Street off St Clements was squatted and used for meetings, parties &c. Lasted till at least 17 Feb 2000. The Earth First national winter gathering was held here
A squatted social centre at 220 Cowley Road, the door was open all night and evening, it was well used, there was free food available and seats outside. It was evicted in May and moved to Sunset Cottages in St Clements but was evicted from there at end of May
More than 1000 people converged on Carfax from 6pm on the first day of the Iraq war and hundreds laid down in front of traffic, according to the Oxford Mail. Three groups then tried to block traffic at the Plain, Folly Bridge, and the Botley Road railway bridge. Six people were arrested. The next day there was a lunchtime vigil at Carfax and many children left their school classes to take part, 40 from Matthew Arnold school alone (Oxford Mail), some with school approval and some without. Similar schoolkids' protests took place in Thame and Wallingford.
