This was the date that Gabriel Chamberlain who had been living in a horse chestnut tree in Bonn Square for some weeks was evicted. Youths who liked to congregate at Bonn Square held a very lively protest there one Saturday. Green councillor Deborah Glass Woodin was arrested on 9 Jan 2008 trying to save trees by the multi-story car park which were about to be felled even though planning permission hadn't yet been granted for the new Westgate centre, which wasn't complete for another 10 years.
